Renewable energy news from isoenergy

Manufacturer Showcase Series – Part One, Ecoforest

Tuesday, 10 September 2019 07:24

At isoenergy we are not tied to a particular manufacturer or product to ensure that we find the best solution for each individual project. We also try and test any heat pump within our portfolio in our plant room at our head office to see how they perform under real-world conditions.

Elsing Hall Project Update

Tuesday, 03 September 2019 15:13

isoenergy is now well underway with the installation at a beautiful moated house in Norfolk. The 3x 34kW CTC heat pumps have been installed in the remote plantroom, as well as the collectors in the moat and the EnergyBlade heat exchangers in the moat outflow.

The hidden costs of an open-loop ground source heat pump collector

Thursday, 29 August 2019 10:05

We are often asked to provide specification for a ground source heat pump system using boreholes. When we specify boreholes we normally recommend a closed-loop borehole array over the alternative open-loop system. Isoenergy’s Bertram Beanland explains why.

New air source heat pumps make the grade

Tuesday, 20 August 2019 08:41

Here at isoenergy we specify equipment that we have tested thoroughly in our demonstration plantroom. We do this to make sure the performance of the heat pump is going to be what we expect it to be. Rather than just relying on manufacturers’ often-generous, specification and efficiency figures, we install each type of unit on our own heating system then collect real-world data on its performance.

Planning Permission for Non-Domestic RHI installations

Tuesday, 13 August 2019 07:22

The non-domestic renewable heat incentive has been helping early adopters see a return on their investment in renewable energy for the last eight years. It is due to close to new entrants in March 2021 and there is currently no plan to replace it. So it seems a little strange that Ofgem are now, at this stage, demanding planning permission for ground source heat pumps to be eligible for the subsidy.

isoenergy systems outperform the rest

Monday, 05 August 2019 15:05

We at isoenergy pride ourselves on the performance of our installations. We design and install systems, especially heat pumps to the highest standards and then monitor their performance to ensure they are running as efficiently as possible.

Heat pump running costs fall with new electricity price cap

Thursday, 01 August 2019 08:37

Ofgem has announced that the price cap on domestic electricity and gas is to be reduced from October 2019. The latest cap will mean that households on standard variable, default or pre-payment tariffs will pay around £75 a year less, with an estimated 25 million households across the UK benefiting.

Heat pumps cooling down?

Friday, 26 July 2019 14:19

International Energy Association figures released in May 2019 show that there were nearly 18 million heat pumps installed globally in households in 2018. This compared to a figure of 14 million domestic installations in 2010 shows a 29% increase in an 8 year period. This success, however, falls within the context that only around 3% of heating in buildings globally is provided by heat pumps and currently the main driving factor for installations in many countries is cooling rather than heating.

isoenergy at the Listed Property Show South West

Thursday, 18 July 2019 07:48

isoenergy continues to grow the business in the West of England and Wales. This good news means, we have decided to exhibit at the Listed Property Show being in Bristol on Saturday, September 21st 2019.

Solar PV SEG-way to the future

Friday, 12 July 2019 09:26

On the 31st of March 2019 all subsidies for Solar PV were removed. This move by the government has resulted in many domestic households with Solar PV providing electricity to the grid without compensation. The government have responded to this situation with the planned introduction of the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) tariff.
