The prospect of turning your beloved garden into something resembling a mud bath has turned some people away from installing a ground source heat pump.

However, as the image above illustrates, the damage is only ever temporary.

The two images are of the same piece of garden in which isoenergy installed a total of 1,600 meters of ground collector array. The array is for the new ground source heat pump at Lynch Farm. The image on the left clearly shows the collector pipe running up one side of the trench and down the other. The manifold pit is located behind the camera and you may just make out a bend to the right where the trench turns round a corner.

As much as we would love to take the credit for the quality of the trenching and backfilling, the client actually did this themselves! Isoenergy of course provided the design for the groundworks layout and helped mark out the trenches, but we do not generally dig the trenches. The owners considered paying a groundworks team, but decided to hire the digger and have a go. The end result is on the right.

We think they should be very proud.
