The mid-shot water wheel is being installed at The Mill House in Northamptonshire in place of a long-gone wooden wheel. Arriving in two parts on the back of a lorry, the wheel has been lowered into a specially adapted channel using a hiab crane and laser-guided precision.
The next couple of weeks will see the generator installed and the complex control system configured and commissioned. Once the wheel is complete it will generate 4-5kW of electricity powering the Mill House and selling the surplus to the grid. The installation will also be eligible for a subsidy of 21.65 pence per kWh from the Feed-in Tariff
