A ground-source heat pump installation at a house in East Sussex.

The new heat pump provides energy for spatial heating and domestic hot water systems at the property.

Isoenergy installed a 42.8kW ground-source heat pump which is docked to the existing oil-fired boiler to provide a potential back-up. The pump provides heat energy via 2000 metres of ground loops in a horizontal array. The heat pump provides spatial heating through underfloor heating and radiators. The system provides 1200 litres of potable domestic hot water for the property.

Chelwood Corner is a house in a quiet rural area of East Sussex which was undergoing renovation. The formerly converted nursing home was being returned to a family home with an approximate size of almost 1000m2 and was previously heated with a dedicated oil-fired boiler. The boiler is still connected as emergency back-up.

At Chelwood Corner the existing oil-fired boiler was expensive to run and highly polluting and the heat pump system addresses both these problems, reducing running costs and pollution.

The 42 kW ground source heat pump is connected to 2,000 metres of ground loop collector buried in trenches 1 metre deep.
