Bury Farm is an existing family house which is set in a couple of acres of landscaped gardens and fields which was undergoing significant remedial works. At the same time as carrying out building works, the client wanted to explore all options for reducing his ever increasing oil bill - using the lake was the optimum solution. At the same time a bore hole was sunk to provide potable water to the property.
In order to design the most efficient heating system possible, isoenergy put loops of collector pipe in the lake; this also reduced costs as no trenches needed digging.
All heating and hot water requirements for the property are served by a 34 kW heat pump connected to 1,000 metres of collector in the lake. The heating is distributed through underfloor heating and radiators.
