It is a busy time of year for our service department, as any minor fault in a heating system can be exacerbated by the cold weather.

Our service engineers have been on the road every day, fixing a range of renewable energy systems. Although we always design our systems to the highest quality, using the best available equipment – and much of our service work comes from systems that we have not installed - there is the reality that occasionally things break.

In many cases, there wouldn’t have been a problem had a minor issue been picked up previously during an annual service. Noticing such a fault before it becomes problematic requires a high level of expertise and experience, which our engineers have in abundance. Most faults are easily rectifiable at an early stage, when remedial action is far less problematic and costly than a cure at a later stage.

Pressure drop and flow rate testing, electrical health check, flue turbulator cleaning, glycol analysis, alarm log scrutiny, suction and discharge pressure testing and so it goes on… may not sound glamorous, but a comprehensive annual service for your heat pump (bi-annual for biomass boilers) really can make the difference when it comes to improving the longevity and efficiency of your renewable energy system. A service that covers all aspects of operation, mechanical and electrical, leaves you with a system performing at optimal efficiency, reducing the likelihood of a more costly bill further down the road.

The old adage that you wouldn’t run your car without servicing it so why risk the same on your heating system couldn’t be truer. In fact most cars will have cheaper components, so although you don’t need to carry out a daily check on your machine, it is definitely worth looking after it.

Unfortunately we hear too many stories emanating from our industry of installers who have put a system in, but then either do not have the necessary manpower to provide a maintenance service or who quickly go out of business, leaving their customers in a distressing situation. With biomass boilers and ground source heat pumps requiring maintenance in accordance with manufacturers’ guidelines in order to meet requirements for Renewable Heat Incentive (which in the case of a biomass boiler is often bi-annually), this lack of service is not just simply an annoyance, but can also create financial difficulty.

We understand how problematic this situation can be, which is why our long established service division will take care of you, whether your system was installed by us or not. Our team of dedicated engineers have the sole aim of keeping your renewable energy system running effectively and efficiently.

If you are aware that your system may require an inspection, then please contact us and we can let you know about our range of service options that are available.
