Horseshoe Lake

isoenergy recently installed a number of heat pump systems for developments surrounding a carp fishing lake set within the Cotswold Water Park. 

The owners of Horseshoe Lake in South Cerney were constructing a large fishing clubhouse on the lake side and four holiday lets positioned around the lake. Isoenergy was asked to come up with the best solution for the five buildings, either individually or as a whole, whilst ensuring low running costs and significant CO₂ reductions. 

For the club house we made use of the large water source within easy reach of the building. We installed a 40kW Ecoforest water source heat pump connected to 1,200m of collector pipework submerged within the lake. In the plant room we installed a 500L hot water cylinder and a 500L buffer tank to provide a complete heating and hot water solution throughout the year. 

The smaller holiday lets required a different approach as they had a significantly smaller heat requirement and limited space. For these buildings we installed individual Hitcachi air source heat pumps with integrated hot water cylinders. This allowed us to meet the year-round heating and hot water demands of each individual holiday let whilst also ensuring the equipment fitted neatly within the available space. 

All the buildings on the site have CO₂ emissions 65-70% lower than if they were using fossil fuel systems with running costs equally improved.
