Isoenergy was approached by Rixon Architects to design and install a renewable heating solution at a lake-side house set within the Cotswold Water Park. The brief was to significantly reduce the building's reliance on LPG which was providing all of the spatial heating, domestic hot water and pool water heating for the outdoor pool during the swimming season.

Even though the property is set on the banks of a large lake, the property didn't own the lake itself so a water source heat pump was not possible. The best solution, in this case, was an air source heat pump to meet all of the building's spatial heating needs in the winter months and all of the pool water heating needs in the summer. We retained an LPG boiler to provide an emergency back-up to both the heating circuit and pool. The LPG also continued to provide the domestic hot water due to the location of the existing hot water cylinder within a part of the house which was not being updated as part of the renovation work the client was undertaking.

Isoenergy was able to set up the 16kW NIBE air source heat pump to switch from house heating to pool heating as the seasons changed. This significantly adds to the overall benefit of the heat pump installation as the unit is in constant operation, maximising the savings the client makes compared to the former LPG system.
