isoenergy have recently completed Phase 1 of the installation of a ground source heat pump system at a new build care home in Leigh for Wigan Council.

Phase 1 consisted of drilling 16No. 160m boreholes under the car park next to the new building. Geocore were appointed to complete the drilling of the boreholes and our in-house groundworks team completed the installation of the manifolds and headering of the boreholes in preparation of Phase 2.

Phase 2 will involve the installation of a 120kW ground source heat pump system in the soon-to-be-built plant room which is planned to take place in mid-2022. Once the installation is complete the system will be able to satisfy all of the spatial heating requirements of the building without the need for a backup boiler. This new system is expected to reduce the carbon emissions of the property by around 20 tonnes per year when compared to the alternative gas-fired system.

We will provide another update on the project once Phase 2 gets underway.
