Work is now well underway at the Royal Alexandra and Albert School with the first two plant rooms switched on.

One of the ground source heat pump systems will be collecting energy from the lake to the rear of one of the boarding houses with 3,000m of collector pipe sunk to the lake bed. The other system will collect energy from an array of fourteen boreholes, each measuring 140m deep. The boreholes were drilled before Christmas by our drilling partner, Synergy Boreholes. Both systems will provide all of the heating and hot water needed for the two boarding houses, removing the inefficient oil boilers completely.

The lake loops all come back to this manifold and pit which are connected to the heat pumps in the plant room. When complete, the manifold pit will be flush with ground level.

Based on the success of the first phase of work, the next phase has now started at the school. The next borehole arrays (19 x 140m and 34 x 140m) and another lake loop collector array are being installed to supply energy for another three boarding houses.

Synergy Boreholes are drilling the next arrays for more plant rooms to connect to.
