Did you know you can claim a tax-free quarterly payment for up to twenty years to offset the cost of installing a renewable heating system?

Although the Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) payments previously available with solar photovoltaic (solar PV) installations are no longer available, the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is still very attractive and accessible to home and business owners looking to invest in renewable technology.

The savings and environmental benefits of a heat pump system are already well known with end users experiencing savings of up to 50% compared to fossil fuels and CO2 emission reductions of around 65%.

The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is a government-backed incentive scheme available to home and business owners who invest in renewable heating systems. The incentive scheme is in place to encourage people to come away from carbon-heavy fossil fuels and install renewable heating systems with the most attractive incentive payments being available for ground, water and air source heat pumps.

The RHI comes in two forms, domestic RHI and non-domestic RHI, with payments for each lasting seven and twenty years respectively. Domestic RHI payments are deemed and pay up to £4,500/year for seven years. Non-domestic RHI payments are metered and pay an uncapped amount for twenty years. The non-domestic RHI payments aren’t simply reserved for commercial premises, property owners who heat more than one dwelling from the same plant room i.e. a district system, also qualify and the return on investment is very attractive. Couple the financial benefits with a reduction in your carbon footprint and the reasons for investing in a renewable heating system make economical and ethical sense, not to mention that your home will be comfortably warm all year round.
