Cheeran House, designed by John Pardey Architects, won the 2016 RIBA National Award in the one-off house category and was featured on Grand Designs.

Modernist architects John Pardey approached isoenergy looking for a sustainable energy solution for this new build project in Hampshire. Although natural gas was available the owners had expressed a desire to minimise the house’s impact on the environment as much as possible.

The Swedish 17kW CTC ground source heat pump uses the gas compression cycle to raise the temperature of the energy collected from the ground up to 45-55o C. This collected energy is then stored in the buffer vessel until it is needed by the house’s underfloor heating system. There is also a 500 litre domestic hot water cylinder installed to provide hot water for the family.
