Commercial property investors now demand a far greater emphasis to be placed on the sustainability of their buildings and the impact they have on the environment. This, coupled with the on-going need to reduce the utility costs to service the buildings, has pushed energy efficiency to the top of the agenda.
Isoenergy works alongside each and every client to aid them in achieving their goals and helps to ensure that an investment made now will pay out dividends in the future.
Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) are being introduced to help improve the energy efficiency of buildings. From October 2008 EPCs will be required whenever a building is built, sold or rented. The certificate provides 'A' to 'G' ratings for buildings, with 'A' being the most energy efficient and 'G' being the least. Currently the average building rating is 'D'.
Accredited energy assessors produce EPCs alongside an associated report which suggests improvements to make a building more energy efficient.
EPCs are required for the following commercial sectors:
• Commercial offices
• Civic and Public buildings
• Communications and Transport
• Education
• Government
• Health
• Hospitality industry
• Hotel and Catering
• Retail
• Sport and Leisure
• Industrial
• Warehouses
Modern commercial premises are net consumers and producers of energy, requiring heat during the winter and air-conditioning during the summer. Isoenergy can manage the efficient generation, storage and distribution of this energy to achieve the desired temperature throughout the year.
