Specification

To heat the house and provide the hot water, isoenergy installed a 22kW ground source heat pump system with energy collected from 1.2km of pipe in a horizontal collector array.

To supplement the heat pump, 6.3 kWp of solar photovoltaic panels were mounted on a roof. The array contained 21 JA Solar PV panels, each capable of generating 300 W of electricity. The panels each feature an ‘optimiser’ which maximised the output over the whole array at any point in time, regardless of minor shading that may occur.

isoenergy was asked to design a renewable energy system for this recently refurbished house in the Cotswolds. Previously heated with oil, the owners looked to make best use of energy from the environment to heat their home as well as provide electricity.
