To heat the house and provide the hot water, isoenergy installed a 22kW ground source heat pump system with energy collected from 1.2km of pipe in a horizontal collector array.
To supplement the heat pump, 6.3 kWp of solar photovoltaic panels were mounted on a roof. The array contained 21 JA Solar PV panels, each capable of generating 300 W of electricity. The panels each feature an ‘optimiser’ which maximised the output over the whole array at any point in time, regardless of minor shading that may occur.
