Project specification

  • Property type: Residential
  • Technologies installed:
  • Collector type:
  • Size (kW): 34
  • New/retrofit: Retrofit
  • Brand: CTC

The site consists of a farm house with a series of outbuildings and land leading down to the Broads. The clients wished to upgrade the heating system whilst other improvements were carried out to the rest of the house.

At the time the building was heated by a dedicated oil-fired boiler, but the owners wanted to reduce running costs and carbon footprint as much as was practical.

A 34kW CTC heat pump was installed with energy collected from 2.4km of ground loops buried in the field behind the barns.

In addition to the heat pump system, isoenergy installed a 25.4 kW solar panel array on the edge of the field. The array consists of 96 panels each with a peak capacity of 265W mounted on the ground and designed to face directly south in order to maximise the energy absorbed from the sun. The array is expected to generate about 24,500 kWh each year which is around seven times the annual electricity usage of an average household. .
