Huf House

The Huf house was bought at the grand designs exhibition in June  2006 and by the end of July a ground source heat pump was drying the house out for final decoration. All the hot water and the heating for this house is supplied by a 17Kw Nibe ground source heat pump. The calculation of heat loss was based on the house suppliers heat/loss estimate being 14.55 kw/h and a rough area heat/loss calculation of 45w per m2.

600m of pipe made of  high density polyethylene pipe know as 'slinky' was buried in the ground at a depth of 1.5m in the ground to harness the solar energy.

The trenches are dug a meter wide to enable the pipes to gather as much heat as possible to supply the heat pump.
