Pelican House is a relatively recently built house in rural Hampshire, with enough land for a horizontal collector array. There is also an outdoor swimming pool at the property, meaning that the solar thermal system which generates most heat in the summer is well suited to the property as that coincides with the swimming season. The old oil boiler is still installed on the site as emergency back-up.

The owners of this eight year old house in a quiet rural part of Alresford, Hampshire wanted to install a heat pump to reduce their running costs.

isoenergy installed a 34 kW ground source heat pump which provides heating and hot water to the house. The collector array consistes of 1,600 metres of pipework in trenches 1 metre deep in the grounds of the house.

isoenergy repaired the existing solar thermal system on the roof of the property; the heat exchange fluid had degraded to the extent that the system was not functioning effectively. The solar thermal system heats the pool during the swimming season and the hot water for the rest of the year.
