Dorfold Hall is a Grade I listed home and wedding venue in Cheshire . The owners were looking for ways to reduce this usage and save costs. A ground source heat pump was the logical option as heat could be collected from the lake in the grounds. Since installing the system, the owners enjoy an estimated 50% saving on their heating bills and the house is kept at modern heating standards. Due to the careful design of the system and the quality of the equipment, the heat pump system is currently running at an efficiency ratio (SPF) of 4:1 - four units of heat delivered for every unit of electricity used by the heat pump - which outperforms the industry average according to Government research.

The lake in the grounds provided an ideal source of energy for the heat pump. We designed a collector array which used the lake as well as some additional ground loops in trenches.

Four 34 kW ground source heat pumps were installed to provide heating and hot water. The collector array combines loops in the ground and the lake with 6,000 metres of pipe in total.
